  • A JOE SATRIANI TRIBUTE | SURFING WITH THE ALIEN

    INTERGALACTIC TOURS PRESENTS:
A JOE SATRIANI TRIBUTE – SURFING WITH THE ALIEN

This event celebrates Surfing With The Alien, the second studio album by American rock guitarist Joe Satriani, originally released on October 15, 1987 via Relativity Records. The album is widely regarded as a defining release in instrumental rock and played a major role in establishing Satriani’s reputation as a leading guitarist of the late 1980s.

Performed live by Cam Blokland (The Superjesus), the show will feature Surfing With The Alien played in full, followed by a selection of Joe Satriani’s greatest hits. This tribute focuses on presenting the album and material in a live setting, staying true to the original recordings while showcasing the technical and musical elements that made the album so influential.

Cam Blokland began playing guitar and singing at a young age, drawing early inspiration from the rock and blues records of the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. He studied classical guitar during high school before developing a strong interest in the late-1980s “shred” guitar movement.

Cam later studied jazz performance at the Elder Conservatorium, where he explored jazz-rock and fusion, completing his Honours Degree in 2009. Between 2009 and 2012, he gained recognition at the Adelaide Fringe Festival for a series of album-tribute performances, recreating works by artists including Joe Satriani, Steve Vai, Metallica, and Dream Theater. Alongside these projects, he has performed with a wide range of original acts across multiple genres and continues to work as a performer and teacher.
